Jasná
The “Jasná” ski resort is the largest ski resort in Slovakia.
It is situated in the Low Tatra Mountains, in the Demänovská Valley, near the town of Liptovský Mikuláš, approximately 35 km away from Ružomberok.
Jasná resort offers over 50 kilometres of ski runs of various difficulty levels, suitable for beginners, families with children, but also for experienced skiers. Rising above Jasná is the peak of Chopok, which is the second highest peak of the Low Tatras, with an altitude of 2024 metres. Because of its interconnection with the south side, the resort lies in two regions: the northern part is in Liptov and the southern part is in Horehronie. A great advantage is the high altitude of the resort, which means it has better snow conditions than the resorts situated at lower altitudes.
In total, the resort has 4 cable car lifts, 8 chair lifts and 1 Twinliner inclined elevator, which looks like a small train. There are also 5 ski tows and 5 tows for children. Skiing is possible on 39 ski runs of various difficulty levels.
Lovers of adrenaline rides will appreciate several free-ride zones and DC Snow Park, which is situated in the part of Otupné. Night skiing on the lit ski run in the area of Biela Púť is also very popular. You can go slide down the hill on a sledge or a bob-sled in Fun Arena, which also has a conveyor-belt ski tow.
There is also a ski school, which offers its services to skiers and snowboarders off all age categories – from children from the age of 3 to pensioners.
If you do not have your own skis and equipment, you can rent it in one of the rental shops situated at the resort. You can safely store the luggage you don’t need in the boxes at the self-service depot in Jasná Centre.
Situated directly at the resort are also 14 bars and restaurants, shops with sportswear and accessories and, naturally, also a wide and diverse selection of accommodation.
In the main season, there is also a ski bus in operation, which can take you to Jasná from Liptovský Mikuláš. Ski passes can be purchased either from the ticket shops at the resort or on-line.
