The Piarist Monastery, which is currently in the administration of the Jesuit Order, was built in the middle of the 18th century.

It is situated in the centre of the town, at A. Hlinka Square, it is connected with the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

The residence of the order is a part of the Baroque Piarist College Complex, along with the church and with the building of the former “Realschule” state grammar school.

The complex is one of the main dominant features of the town, it is a representative example of school-type monastery buildings. In the west section of the complex, behind the residence building, there is a nice monastery garden area.

Originally, the monastery did not have a church, only a chapel. The Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was built later. Placed on the building, to the right of the church, is the coat of arms of John Jacob Löwenburg, to whom we owe the merit for the construction of the monastery.
