Mud swamp on the way to Vrchlúky, Ružomberok - Vlkolínec

The mud swamp is situated below a field road, above Vlkolínec, in the cadastral area of Ružomberok. It is located approximately 250 metres away from the built-up area of Vlkolínec. You can get to the swamp along the yellow-marked hiking trail running from Vlkolínec in the direction to Hrabovo.

Information:
– The mud swamp consists of a spring (seepage) with a low flow rate, which is caught into a peat pit.
– The water from the mud swamp does not flow away, it is either absorbed into the bed or it evaporates.
– The mud swamp is used as a water source for woodland animals.
– Passing by the mud swamp is a yellow-marked hiking trail running from Biely Potok, through Vlkolínec, to Hrabovo, and a yellow-marked bike trail connecting Biely Potok and notch Sedlo pod Sidorovom.
– The mud swamp is situated in the protected zone of the Great Fatra National Park.
– The mud swamp is situated in the protected zone of the monument reserve of Vlkolínec.
