Railway Station in Ružomberok

For many visitors, the railway station is a gateway to the town. It is situated near the centre of the town.

In the close vicinity, there is also a bus station and a bus stop of the public transport system.

There is a small tower above the entrance, which captures one’s attention.

The station was built in 1871, based on the model of spa buildings. That is when the first train passed here on the new railway line. The station lies on the main route between Bratislava and Košice. Until 1974, there also used to be a railway line running southward from here to Korytnica Spa. For the past few years, a section of the line to the periphery of the town was re-opened during the summer holiday months.
