The building of the former Salt Office is situated in the town of Likavka, near the Ružomberok’s bus station.

The two-storey building standing on the right bank of the Váh River was built at the beginning of the 19th century. It served for administrative purposes. In addition to this building, there also used to be warehouses, salt weighing buildings and houses for officials. Later on, in the 20th century, there was a tax office and also a military warehouse.

Currently, the building is a private property and it is closed to the public, it can only be looked at from the nearby street.

An interesting fact is that the salt office was originally located on the other bank of the Váh River, near the Manor House of St. Sophia. However, it was flooded during the major flooding in 1813, and therefore relocated to the other bank of the Váh River.
