Scout Museum of Václav Rubeš

The Scout Museum of Václav Rubeš in Ružomberok is the only museum of this type in the entire Slovakia.

It is situated in the centre of the town, at “Námestie Slobody” (square), in the building of the Björnson’s House.

The museum displays documents which illustrate development of the scouting movement in Slovakia as well as in the world. The exhibition includes scout badges, honorary awards, patches, stamps, flags, chronicles, postal stamps or scout uniforms. In total, the museum already has 13,000 archival objects in its collection.

Visitors also have access to the photo library, the film library, the video library, the gramophone library as well as the book library with a study room. The book library contains many scouting books and magazines. The magazine collection includes, for example, complete editions of “Skauting”, “Činovník”, “Buď pripravený”, “Junák”, “Skaut Junák” and more.

The Scout Museum was founded by Václav Rubeš in 1997.
