Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary in Ružomberok

The Roman-Catholic Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary is situated in the vicinity of Ružomberok’s Calvary, at the premises of the Franciscan monastery, approximately 3 km away from the centre of Ružomberok.

The complex of the School Sisters of St. Francis (the Franciscan nuns) is a neighbouring building to the foster home. The chapel was built in 1999. It has elliptical shape. The shape is based on the idea of the liturgical reform of the II. Vatican Council, “Christ Among Us”. Located at the top of the chapel is a glass pyramid, which brings the light from outside into the chapel. The chapel is surrounded with a massive slanting wall fence, which copies its perimeter. The chapel is a dominant feature of the monastery complex.

When looking from the street, you can notice semi-circle balconies in the monastery section, one balcony for every two rooms. On the floor upstairs, there are rooms for assemblies.
