Exhibitions in Vlkolínec
There are several exhibitions in Vlkolínec for the visitors to see. Some of them are open to visitors all year round and some of them are only available during the main tourist season.
Vlkolínec:
In view of its preservation level and compactness, the village itself is practically an exhibition of a traditional mountain settlement in northern Slovakia. It consists of log houses, farm buildings, orchards, small fields and the territory surrounding the village situated in the mountain area at the foot of Sidorovo Hill.
The exhibition (the village of Vlkolínec) is available all year round, however, visitors should not enter into the yards and houses which are not a part of the exhibition, as those are privately owned.
Vlkolínec Farmer’s House and Yard:
The exhibition consists of a traditional Vlkolínec house of a peasant family, which exhibits traditional way of living and life in Vlkolínec, also typical for other mountain areas in northern Slovakia. The exhibition also includes farm buildings, in which you can see the works of craftsmen and artists along with an agricultural section of the exhibition.
The exhibition is available all year round.
Vlkolínec UNESCO House:
The exhibition has been created as a presentation area for the promotion of Vlkolínec and the UNESCO monuments in Slovakia. Currently, the exhibitions are still in preparation. Visitors can see the exhibited works of painters, photographers and folk artists. In the lower areas of the premises, the exhibition is dedicated to the history of Vlkolínec.
The exhibition is available all year round.
Church of the Visitation of Virgin Mary in Vlkolínec:
The Vlkolínec church is open to visitors in the area of the vestibule, from which it is possible to view the church interior.
The exhibition is available during the main tourist season and during church services.
Shepherd’s Hut of the Sheep Farm in Vtáčnik:
The exhibition consists of a traditional shepherd’s hut from this region including the equipment found in traditional shepherd’s huts. You are not allowed to enter the hut, but you can look inside.
The exhibition is available during the main tourist season.
Mini Gallery in the Granary:
The mini gallery was created by the reconstruction of the original granary used for grain storage. The exhibition consists of the works by craftsmen, artists and painters.
The exhibition is available all year round.
Folk Art Gallery:
The gallery is located in the building of a former school and it exhibits works by folk artists, craftsmen and painters.
The exhibition is private and available mostly during the main tourist season.
